Internet Chats and File Sharing

Paltalk is an instant messaging system that is compatible with AOL, Yahoo! and ICQ messengers. Paltalk has an easily-navigable, live voice and live video enabled chat room community; however, in Southern University Online only the audio and file sharing capabilities are used. You must download and install the free Paltalk software from Paltalk.com.

Lectures and Presentations

If your instructor is going to use Paltalk as a method of meeting your class online, he/she will inform you. Before joining the class you MUST have Paltalk downloaded and installed on your computer, have a computer with a microphone and speakers, and have access to the Internet. Additionally, you MUST be familiar with the software (if you have any questions, please call Mr. Jerald Horne at 225-771-4641). It is necessary for you to logon on time and participate in the chat.

We have Paltalk nicknames that students can use to logon to classes. These nicknames must be used with the Paltalk software that is downloaded and installed on your computer. The registered nicknames will enable you to have continuous video. To request the use of a SUOnline registered Paltalk nickname, contact Mr. Jerald Horne at 225-771-4641.
